Bob Dylan’s 1st Grammy was on Feb. 27, 1980 for Best Rock Male Vocal Performance for the song, “Gotta Serve Somebody’ in which he performed that evening. When Bob was presented with his award, he said, ” I didn’t expect this!” “I want to thank the Lord for it!”

Farm Aid was started by Willie Nelson, Neil Young and John Mellencamp in 1985 to keep family farmers on the land and has worked since then to make sure everyone has access to good food from family farmers. Dave Matthews joined Farm Aid’s board of directors in 2001.
August 2, 1962: Robert Allen Zimmerman legally changed his surname to Dylan, a name he had been using professionally since October, 1959. There are many different theories as to why he chose the name, basically revolving around a relative named “Dillon”, with the spelling influenced by the Welsh poet, Dylan Thomas. In a 2005 interview for the CBS-TV television news program 60 Minutes, Dylan said it was “destiny”: “Some people – you’re born, you know, the wrong names, wrong parents. I mean, that happens. You call yourself what you want to call yourself. This is the land of the free.”

This image was used for the sleeve photograph for the promotional mini-album Bob Dylan and The Band: Electric Lunch (Columbia AS-1471, 1983) which has three tracks each from the former Asylum/Island albums Planet Waves and Before the Flood, to celebrate the move to the Columbia label. All songs are credited to “B. Dylan”, even The Band track “Stage Fright,” written by Robbie Robertson.
