New Trailer for Minecraft Movie with Jason Momoa and Jack Black

A new trailer for the Minecraft film has been released. The adaptation, starring Jason Momoa and Jack Black, will be released in 2025.

The new trailer of the film, which will be released under the title A Minecraft Movie, met with the audience accompanied by MGMT’s Time to Pretend song. The story of Steve, played by Jack Black, starts from his childhood and is shaped by his passion for mines. The adventure begins when the adult version of the character steps into the world of Minecraft thanks to the mysterious blue cube he discovers.

The trailer introduces Jason Momoa as Garrett “The Garbage Man” Garrison, 1989 Actor of the Year, as well as Danielle Brooks’ Dawn, Sebastian Eugene Hansen’s Henry and Emma Myers’ Natalie. The film, which also includes famous names such as Jennifer Coolidge, Kate McKinnon and Jemaine Clement, blends the iconic elements of the game with the real world.

Dangers and Secrets of the Minecraft World

The classic mechanics of the game play an important role in the trailer. Features that players are familiar with such as Redstone setups, wolf taming, mining systems and the use of Ender Pearl have been incorporated into the film’s script. Especially creative Redstone structures such as Steve’s automatic chicken cooking machine seem to be a sign that the free structure of the game will also be included in the film.

The dark side of the film is also not neglected. Creepers, skeletons and zombies that appear at night threaten the characters, while the attack of barbaric pig men on the city and purple coloured portal visuals constitute the bad elements of the story.

A co-production of Warner Bros., Mojang Studios and Legendary, the film also makes nostalgic use of the original game’s soundtrack. Following the first trailer released with The Beatles’ Magical Mystery Tour song, this new trailer signals that the film will be faithful to the game and will offer a modern adventure.

A Minecraft Movie will meet cinema lovers on 4 April 2025.
