The Suits series universe is expanding. Aaron Korsh, creator of the original series, has begun work on a new spin-off project.
The Suits, starring Meghan Markle, who left the royal family and moved from England with her husband Prince Harry, is being reshot in the series. It has not yet been announced who will star in The Suits series.
Markle was starring in the TV series Suits when she started seeing Prince Harry in 2016.
Suits, which aired a total of 9 seasons and 134 episodes between 2011-2019, was one of the most talked about dramas of an era. The series, which first aired on USA Network, later met with viewers on Netflix and Peacock and expanded its audience considerably.
Series creator Aaron Korsh has begun developing a new project for NBCUniversal that will center around new characters and take place in Los Angeles.
Deadline reports that talks between series creator Aaron Korsh and NBCUniversal are still ongoing. Although a channel or broadcast platform has not yet been finalized, the project is expected to be finalized quickly.
The new project will take on an NCIS-like format, introducing new characters and new locations. A short-lived spin-off for the Suits universe, Pearson, was previously developed but failed to attract the expected interest.
Suits Universe Expands with a New Series
Since Netflix acquired the rights to Suits and brought it to its platform, the series has both met a new audience and become a nostalgic marathon for many viewers. The production, which has broken platform records many times, has also topped the viewership charts.
Following this momentum, Peacock brought the Pearson spin-off to its platform, which was also well received by fans.
After all this interest, it was no surprise that a new production sharing the same universe is in development. The details of the project, which Aaron Korsh will also serve as a producer, remain unclear for now.
The original production, which also featured Meghan Markle, who later joined the British Royal Family, became one of NBC’s most successful series.
The popular series stars Gabriel Macht as Harvey Reginald Specter, Patrick J. Adams as Michael James Ross, Rick Hoffman as Louis Marlowe Litt, Sarah Rafferty as Donna Roberta Paulsen, Gina Torres as Jessica Pearson, Amanda Schull as Katrina Bennett, Dulé Hill as Alex Williams and Katherine Heigl starred as Samantha Wheeler.
