The Witcher 4

There is still no release date for the long-awaited The Witcher 4, but CD Projekt has officially announced when the game will not be released. According to the company, The Witcher 4 will not be released in 2026.

The wait for the long-awaited The Witcher 4 seems to be even longer. CD Projekt firmly announced that the game will not be released until the end of 2026. This statement was made at the company’s 2024 fiscal year revenue presentation. Some rumours had suggested that the game could come out in 2026, but according to the developer, The Witcher 4 will not be released before 2027.

‘Not coming out in 2026’

In CD Projekt’s presentation on financial goals and management objectives, it was announced that The Witcher 4 will not be released until the end of 2026. ‘Although we are not planning to release The Witcher 4 until the end of 2026, we are still moving with this financial target,’ the presentation said. –

Piotr Nielubowicz, the company’s chief financial officer, said during the Q&A portion of the presentation, ‘We will not announce the exact release date of the game yet. The only thing we can share right now to provide more visibility to investors is that the game will not be released within the first target timeframe in the incentive programme, which will end on 31 December 2026,’ he said. –

Could be out in 2027

CD Projekt’s approach makes 2027 more likely for the release of The Witcher 4. Of course, this should be read as the earliest release date, so it can also shift to 2028. In general, the development process of AAA games takes between three and five years. Unofficially, The Witcher 4 was announced as a roadmap in 2022. CD Projekt said that The Witcher 4 entered ‘full production’ in November 2024. Currently, 411 people are actively working on the game. By the way, 2027 and 2028 may also be the release date of the next generation Xbox and PS6. There has been such a rumour on these dates for years.
