LG unveils full 118-inch, $237,000 TV model

LG Magnit TV 118 inch specifications

LG is launching a new TV model that can be mounted on the wall and will change the face of living rooms. The new TV, which will be part of the Magnit family, draws attention with its size and price. Announced at CEDIA Expo 2023, the new 118-inch Magnit TV actually looks quite cheap compared to larger models. Of course, this depends on how you look at it.

While the 118-inch Magnit TV boasts 0.6mm pixel pitch, 4K resolution, on-chip (COB) LED technology and AI-enhanced processing, much of its $237,000 price tag is due to its three-meter diagonal and reliance on LG’s advanced DVLED (direct-vision light-emitting diode) technology found in massive commercial displays. The new TV also features a 120Hz refresh rate and LG’s webOS smart TV platform. LG Magnit TV can reach a maximum brightness of 2,000 nits on its huge screen.

LG says each of the TV’s more than 8 million MicroLEDs is the width of a human hair, delivering pure blacks and incredible contrast. The TV is HDR10 and HDR10 Pro compliant and uses LG’s Alpha 9 processor, also found in the LG C3 and G3 OLED TVs, to reduce image noise and optimize color saturation and contrast based on room conditions with AI deep learning technology. On the audio side, the TV comes with integrated 50-watt speakers. However, the $40,000 Bang & Olufsens Beolab 50 speakers can also be preferred if desired.

The LG 118-inch Magnit TV is not the company’s largest TV model. In the past years, 136-inch and 163-inch Magnit TV models have been released. Of course, LG is not the only company that produces gigantic TVs. Samsung is also in the same product category with its ‘The Wall’ series. It even offers a 2019-inch version that costs $800,000. LG’s 136-inch model has a price tag of $300,000.
