I have long been of the opinion that there is a great similarity between the music of Bob Dylan and the paintings of Pablo Picasso. I wonder if anyone else agrees.
Both polarise opinion – Anyone that cares about art either loves or hates Picasso, or at least has strong opinions about his work. The same can be said of music & Bob Dylan.
Both painted / sing about what they felt above what they saw. In my opinion, the true object of art, for one human being to communicate his emotions to another – Who cares what she looked like? What did you feel when you saw her? Three eyes on the same side of her head, side-saddle on the golden calf? Know exactly what you mean, dude!
Both are “rebels” that were just too damned good to be left outside of the mainstream for long and were thus “integrated” and accepted by the “establishment”.

Both have been accused of producing work that was “Dylan/Picasso-by-numbers”, relying on the public’s perception of their genius to give it credibility that it didn’t deserve – not my opinion in either case, I must add.

Both were genuine artistic geniuses, with egos to match, and a love of playing games with the critics & press. And an exceptional skill at doing so.
– He painted things as he saw them, from all angles simultaneously – in order to show the “whole” rather than an aspect. To give the “feeling” of the object / person rather than just a sketch of what it / they looked like from a particular angle.
picasso was doing both classical and abstract at the sametime..switching back n forth..never feeling satisfying..always challenging himself and his audience…all just to see what was inside his soul. i think the same case could be said for dylan.
They both try and brake the limits with there work. and they do it well, they don’t come out with a bad ending when they try something new they get it right.
