it is June 23, 1978. Unlike millions of others, I have never seen Bob Dylan heard. In the summer of 1978 I played in the sandbox of my kleuterjaren. I have no memories of June 23, 1978, to Bob Dylan’s concert at the Feyenoord stadium in Rotterdam, to his first concert in the Netherlands.
My fascination for this concert is fed by the lack of memories and although it is impossible to post those missing memories still to catch up, I have in the course of the years done my best to be a surrogate to build. I have now been dozens of articles about this concert have read, hundreds of photos of this concert have seen. And of course I have the recording heard and the few minutes of film seen. I need the images of the Polygon News, already dozens of times have seen. I have many people spoken who there were, closer I come.
Today it is 35 years ago that Bob Dylan is for the first time in the Netherlands occurred. In those 35 years a lot has happened. My fabricated memories of this concert in 35 years only became stronger. One of the outgrowths of that fascination for Bob Dylan’s first concert in the Netherlands, the piece is ‘June 23, 1978, Feyenoord stadium “de Kuip”, Rotterdam’ in my book, Bob Dylan in the Netherlands 1965 – 1978. It is a twenty-page piece about that first concert in the Netherlands. While writing that piece I have for a while, the sandbox of my kleuterjaren leave to take a seat in the Cockpit, to Bob Dylan for the first time in the Netherlands to see and hear occur. For a moment it was again June 23, 1978.
