Loretta Lynn grew up in a large family, being the second of eight children. Her family struggled financially, and she started singing in church at a young age. She married Oliver “Doolittle” Lynn when she was only 15 years old. Doolittle gave her a guitar as a gift, which sparked her interest in songwriting.
