OCTOBER 14, 1966 – Grace Slick made her first stage appearance with the band Jefferson Airplane at their Fillmore West gig in San Francisco. Slick, who had previously fronted The Great Society, replaced singer Signe Toly Anderson (the vocalist on their debut LP “Jefferson Airplane Takes Off”) who left the group to raise her first child.

Grace Slick is an American singer-songwriter and artist, best known as the lead vocalist of the rock bands Jefferson Airplane and Jefferson Starship.
