Rhythm guitarist Izzy Stradlin quit Guns N’ Roses and was replaced by guitarist Gilby Clarke. Stradlin cited a combination of Axl Rose’s personal behavior and the difficulties of being around Slash, Matt Sorum, and Duff McKagan, due to his new-found sobriety.
“Once I quit drugs,” Stradlin explained, “I couldn’t help looking around and asking myself, ‘Is this all there is?’ I was just tired of it; I needed to get out. When you’re f***ed up, you’re more likely to put up with things you wouldn’t normally put up with.”
