JANUARY 14, 1970 – Diana Ross made her last appearance with The Supremes at The Frontier Hotel, Las Vegas. During the show, Diana introduced her replacement, Jean Terrell, who would lead the group to seven more Top 40 hits.They were the most successful American pop group of the 1960s with 12 #1 hits in the first full decade of the rock and roll era placing them behind only Elvis and the Beatles in terms of chart dominance. The Supremes helped define the very sound of the 60s, but like fellow icons the Beatles and Simon and Garfunkel, they fell apart in the first year of the 70s.
