FEBRUARY 2, 1958 – Jimi Hendrix’s mother Lucille Mitchell (b. October 12, 1925 in Seattle, Washington as Lucille Jeter) died at 3:45 a.m. at King County Hospital in Seattle at age 32. The official cause of death was listed as splenic rupture and hemorrhage due to partial hypertension and partion amorhosis.She is buried in Greenwood Memorial Cemetery in Renton, Washington in what was the original Hendrix family plot. Since that time, Jimi and her husband Al Hendrix were both exhumed and moved to the new “family” location in the cemetery, but Lucille remains in her original grave.
