Filming Completed on the New “Game of Thrones” Series “A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms”

A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms

A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms has wrapped filming. HBO‘s new “Game of Thrones” will air in 2025.

A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms has completed production. The countdown is on for the second Game of Thrones spin-off after House of the Dragon.

Immediately after Game of Thrones ended its journey in 2019, HBO began ordering one new project after another set in the same universe. The first spin-off to hit viewers was House of the Dragon, which takes place during the final period of the Targaryen Dynasty. While fans had the opportunity to experience House of the Dragon season 2 last summer, Westeros’ next project didn’t waste much time.

Full title A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms: The Hedge Knight, the new production brings to the screen A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms, the first book in the Tales of Dunk and Egg series by American speculative fiction author George R.R. Martin.

Set 90 years before the events of Game of Thrones, the series centers on the story of the knight Ser Long Duncan (Dunk) and his squire Egg (Aegon Targaryen). The first season, which will consist of 6 episodes in total, is designed as a smaller-scale adventure.

A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms

Duncan, played by Peter Claffey, is a new knight who will participate in a tournament at Ashford Meadow. Duncan will team up with his squire Aegon Targaryen (Dexter Sol Ansell), nicknamed Egg because of his bald head, and together they will embark on various adventures.

Shooting began last June, and according to Redanian Intelligence, the first season production has been completed as of September 2024. The last season of House of the Dragon was shot in a total of 6 months. A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms finished shooting in half that time.

On the other hand, while George R.R. Martin accused House of the Dragon, based on the book Fire & Blood, of straying away from the source material, A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms has the opposite profile.

A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms series, whose promotions started last August, will appear on HBO channel in 2025.
