New Lord of the Rings movies are coming: Here are the first details

Middle-earth is coming to theaters again. Warner Bros. has signed a deal with New Line Cinema, the studio that made the original trilogy, to produce new Lord of the Rings movies.

Middle-earth is on its way to the big screen once again. Recently, Warner Bros. announced that they will be making several Lord of the Rings movies set in the universe. The new Lord of the Rings movies will come from New Line Cinema, the same studio that created the original trilogy.

Warner Bros. Pictures announced that New Line and Middle-earth Enterprises are collaborating on a number of feature films set in the Lord of the Rings universe.

Lord of the Rings

So far, nothing has been revealed as to exactly what stories these new Middle-earth movies will tell.

Considering the richness of the characters and locations in the Lord of the Rings books, we can say that any movie has a long way to go. Even if the new stories choose not to focus on iconic characters like Frodo, Aragorn, Gandalf or Legolas, there are plenty of other figures to focus on.

It is significant that they announced that the new projects will be based on The Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit, rather than The Silmarillion, which was published after Tolkien’s death and provided additional sources for Middle-earth mythology.
