OCTOBER 1, 1966 – Jimi Hendrix performed live in the UK when for the first time when he jammed with Cream at their gig at London Polytechnic on Little Titchfield Street. Hendrix had arrived in England just a few days previously on September 24th. Hendrix’s new manager Chas Chandler saw him perform in New York, and had convinced him to come pursue a career in the booming music scene of London. One of the ways Chandler enticed him was by promising him that he could meet Eric Clapton. Jimi was a big fan of the album Clapton recorded with the Bluesbreakers.
