September 18, 1983 – Hard rock heroes KISS appeared without their famous make-up for the first time

Known for hiding their countenances from photographers since the band’s inception in 1974, KISS revealed their true faces to Veejay J.J. Jackson and the rest of the world on MTV (FYI: The rumors are true, IT WAS A MUSIC CHANNEL BACK THEN!)Their new album at the time, “Lick It Up” was released that same day and a video of the title track debuted during the special event. Many “casual fans” didn’t even know until that moment that original members Peter Criss and Ace Frehley had long since defected the KISS camp and had been replaced by drummer Eric Carr and guitarist Vinnie Vincent.
