The series, which quickly became popular on social media and received great praise from the audience, deals with the Chernobyl nuclear disaster in the Soviet Union in April 1986 and the unprecedented liquidation attempts that followed.

Telling the true story of one of history’s worst man-made disasters through fiction, the series features brave men and women who sacrificed themselves to save Europe from unimaginable disaster. It focuses on the sad consequences of the disaster at the nuclear power plant established in the Ukrainian city of Chernobyl on the Belarusian border, and explaining how and why the disaster occurred, and the stories of heroes who fought and defeated.

The drama stars Jared Harris, who appeared before the audience as a character actor in acclaimed TV series Mad Men, Fringe and The Crown. Emily Watson, Stellan Skarsgård and Paul Ritter also accompany Harris.
