Pennywise Returns: Stephen King's Iconic Monster Gets Its Own Series

Pennywise is getting its own series. Stephen King’s nightmarish clown will appear in front of the audience once again with the TV series Welcome to Derry. HBO Max channel has placed the official order for the production.

American writer Stephen King’s horror classic IT novel first met with readers in 1986. The main villain of the work, Pennywise, managed to be engraved in the minds of many readers at that time. The character of Pennywise, played by Tim Curry, managed to become a symbol.

Pennywise Series “Welcome to Derry” In Development


While its detailed plot has yet to be revealed, Welcome to Derry will take place in the world of It, and will expand on the story told in Muschietti’s last two film adaptations. The production will also shed light on the dark past of the town of Derry, which is mentioned in many of King’s novels.

Muschietti will take the director’s chair in some parts of the series and will also contribute to the development of the story. Welcome to Derry will be penned by Muschietti’s sister and producing partner, Barbara Muschietti, and Wonder Woman writer Jason Fuchs.
