The artist, whose real name is James Douglas Morrison, was born on December 8, 1943 in Florida.

Jim Morrison is the child of the duo of Clara Clarke Morrison – George Stephen Morrison, who met in Hawaii in 1942.

Because her mother Clara was a housewife and her father George was a Navy officer, they were constantly moving to other places. Besides being an artist, Jim always wanted to be a poet, and because he loved poetry, he chose John Keats, Jack Kerouac, Arthur Rimbaud as his idols.

Jim, who was very popular at school, had no problem with friends, but did not form close friendships with any of them as they traveled constantly because of his father’s job.

At least 2 or 3 schools changed during the primary education period and in 1957 he started to go to Alameda High School in California.

After finishing high school, Jim, who still had problems with his family, moved to St. Petersburg Junior College to study at university. In 1962, he transferred to Florida State University. Jim, who had various problems in this process, was arrested one day for disturbing the peace at a football match.

He moved to Los Angeles in 1964 and studied at UCLA (University of California, Los Angeles). The main reason he read it here was to be a filmmaker.

Jim originally went to California dreaming of becoming a producer. While living with Dennis Jacob, whom he met at school and later became his roommate, he wrote poems and dreamed of dreams that he will use many times in his later pieces. He gradually lost interest in production and concentrated on music.
