1- Fogerty was born “John Cameron Fogerty” in Berkeley, California in 1945
2- He took guitar lessons from Barry Olivier. One of his first bands was called The Blue Velvets.
3- Fogerty Inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, as a member of CCR, in 1993
4- John received his first guitar at age 12
5- At age 14, he formed a band called the Blue Velvets with two classmates, drummer Doug Clifford and bass player Stu Cook
6- In fifth and sixth grade, Fogerty was a lieutenant in the “traffic patrol,” overseen by Police Officer Ray Morris.
7- He Did not record from 1975 to 1984 because of legal problems with his former label, Fantasy Records.
8- His band Creedence Clearwater Revival broke up in 1973
9- Fogerty inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame in 2005.
10- He Played with his brother Tom Fogerty in the Blue Velvets in the late 1950s; the group later became the Golliwogs, and eventually evolved into Creedence Clearwater Revival.
11- He was listed on Rolling Stone magazine’s list of 100 Greatest Guitarists (at number 40) and the list of 100 Greatest Singers (at number 72).
12- His first official solo album, John Fogerty, was released in 1975
13- When John was two years old, his parents both converted to Catholicism
14- Fogerty played for President Obama’s White House at a 2014 “Salute to the Troops” program
15- He served in the Army Reserves from 1966-67
16- He participated in the Vote for Change concert tour organized to encourage the defeat of George W. Bush in the U.S. presidential election. It failed.
17- On May 31, 1985, Fogerty filmed a one-hour music and interview special for Showtime called John Fogerty’s All-Stars
18- He was awarded a Star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame for Recording at 7000 Hollywood Boulevard in Hollywood, California.
