The source is a Bob Carolgees photograph that first appeared on the Internet in 2007. It was probably taken in the 1980s.

Bob Carolgees (born Robert Johnson) is best known for appearing with an expectorating canine puppet named Spit the Dog on the children’s television programme Tiswas.

Big Dog / Bob Dylan

“I know you try to squeeze me, I know you try to tease me, may God would you please come home…”

“A 20 second fragment, recorded during the same call and response sessions that produced “See You Later Allen Ginsberg” and “Kickin’ My Dog Around.” There’s probably more to the song that Dylan was working on – but either he never finished it or the band never decided to revisit it once the track broke down.”

Big Dog is also known as Won’t You Please Come Home.

The Basement Tapes Track-by-track

The source of the head for the head transplant was Bob Dylan attending the fight between William Joppy of Silver Spring, Maryland and Super Welterweight Champion Felix Trinidad of Puerto Rico during their championship bout at Madison Square Garden 12 May, 2001 in New York, New York. Felix Trinidad won by a knockout in the 5th round.

If you recall the televison coverage of the fight Bob Dylan can be spotted in the distance briefly during the final seconds…
