Named Game of the Year at the 2023 Game Awards, Larian Studios’ Baldur’s Gate 3 could be Netflix’s next Stranger Things. The digital streaming platform, which is looking for a new hit after Stranger Things, which is preparing for its final season, wants to bring the RPG game that marked this year to the audience.
According to Giant Freakin Robot, Netflix is looking for a big game adaptation on a scale that will create a new buzz after The Witcher.
Netflix is currently hosting a large corpus of popular game, manga/anime adaptations on its platform. The Witcher season 4 is in the works, while season 2 of One Piece is in the works.
Based on the Dungeons & Dragons tabletop role-playing system, the Baldur’s Gate series is set in the Forgotten Realms universe. The first game was released in 1998, the second in 2000, and the last installment of the series was released 23 years later to great acclaim. The third game was about a group of companions who were captured by the Mind Flayers and their adventures to get rid of these harmful parasites.
