  1. The Darkness are an awesome band, and the commonality between them and The Damned is obvious; they both begin with the letter ‘D’. That aside, there is no connection between the two. To see The Darkness lumped in with perennial no hopers such as The Damned is quite frankly disrespectful to the former.

  2. For ‘perennial no-hopers’ they’ve kept going for longer than anyone else – 45 years, to be exact. They’re still releasing records, still touring, and their EP last year was number 1 in the UK vinyl sales chart. Tell me what you’ve achieved, Derek, that has lasted for 45 years?
