The Yaren Stork, which captured the hearts of millions with its friendship story with fisherman Adem Yılmaz in Karacabey district of Bursa, came from migration for the 13th year in a row. It was noteworthy that Yaren Stork arrived earlier this year compared to previous years.
For 13 years, Yaren Stork, who settles in her nest in Eskikaraağaç Stork Village every spring when she comes from migration, will sail to the lake again with her friend Adem Yılmaz during the summer.
Yaren stork, whose friendship story with fisherman Adem Yılmaz was also the subject of a movie, came to Bursa Karacabey. Thanks to the camera installed by Karacabey Municipality, they can watch the bird on ‘Yarenleylek.com‘.
On the other hand, Eskikaraağaç Stork Village in Bursa’s Karacabey district, which is the only village representing Turkey in the European Stork Villages Association, is on a migration route where tens of thousands of storks pass every year during the migration period. The village is also home to resident storks.
This story witnessed by Adem Yılmaz, whose friendship started 13 years ago with the Yaren Stork that landed on his boat while fishing in Uluabat Lake, gained international fame after it was photographed.
The story was performed as a shadow play in Greece and became the subject of textbooks in Austria and Germany. In 2019, the documentary “Yaren”, filmed by Burak Doğansoysal and prepared with the contributions of Karacabey Municipality, returned from the Prague Film Awards with the title of best documentary.
