“Harry Potter” TV series adaptation to take ‘in-depth’ look at the books

Harry Potter TV series

Harry Potter TV series adaptation will allow viewers to explore the books of the series in depth. The production, developed for the Max platform, is still in its early stages.

Some new details about the Harry Potter TV series adaptation have emerged. The production, which will focus on J.K. Rowling’s books, will meet viewers through HBO’s digital broadcasting platform Max.

Harry Potter’s journey to the big screen, which lasted 8 movies in total between 2001-2011, left behind a box office gross of 7.7 billion dollars and millions of fans. After 12 years, Warner Bros. decided to reboot the series.

Work continues on the project, in which each season will focus on one book and the author of the series, J.K. Rowling, will be personally involved. While fans are anxiously awaiting the new adaptation, the producers are not afraid to promise a faithful adaptation early on.

Harry Potter TV Series in Early Development

Having worked on 8 Harry Potter movies, David Heyman is now the executive producer of the series. In his statement, Heyman said that they have not yet signed a screenwriter for the series adaptation and also pointed out that the books will be discussed in depth.

“It’s still early days for Harry Potter. We haven’t even hired a writer to start writing, it’s a bit early for that. But I hope this series will be something very special. It gives us the opportunity to enjoy a series that allows us to see the books and explore them in depth.”

In an interview published in the September 14th issue of Total Film, Heyman also talks about the Roald Dahl adaptation of Wonka. According to Heyman, there seems to be an unexpected connection between Harry Potter and Wonka.

“In a way, loving Dahl was the beginning of my interest in Harry Potter. There’s a connection between them. They are members of the same family. But there’s a disrespect for them. There’s a sense of mischief and play in these two works that I really like.”

The Harry Potter series, for which there is not even a scriptwriter deal yet, is expected to air between 2025/2026 at best. On the other hand, David Zaslav, CEO of Warner Bros. Discovery, often reminds us that they need to focus more on the Harry Potter and Lord of the Rings brands.
