Netflix has given the green light for Alice in Borderland Season 3. The survival-themed action series is coming back with new episodes.
Alice in Borderland has been confirmed for season 3. Netflix’s manga adaptation announced the new season with a short video featuring a Joker card.
Season 2 of the action, crime and mystery series Alice in Borderland, whose first season aired in 2020, was released in December 2022. After 9 months, Netflix decided to give the green light for the manga adaptation.
Created by Japanese writer and artist Haro Aso, Alice in Borderland (Imawa no Kuni no Arisu) was released between 2010 and 2016. The screen adaptation of the series received positive ratings from viewers and critics, but no updates about season 3 have been shared for a while.
The series begins with an unemployed young man named Ryohei Arisu, who spends his time playing computer games, waking up one morning to find himself in an uncanny Tokyo, and follows Arisu and his friends as they struggle to play the “game” according to the rules in order to survive.
Alice in Borderland Approved for Season 3
Netflix first shared a few playing cards on its social media account on September 27. While fans of the series thought the post was a sign for Alice in Borderland season 3, it soon turned out that viewers were right. The digital streaming service officially confirmed that the series will return with a short video.
The second season of the series followed young Ryohei Arisu, played by Kento Yamazaki, and his friends as they searched for answers in a desolate Tokyo alternative where they were trapped. After a brutal season, the production ended its journey with an open-ended finale.
Arisu’s return to the real world and her recollection of the horrific events in the parallel world united viewers in the view that the production did not have a final ending.
Although the producers of the series preferred an open-ended finale against a possible cancellation, they managed to get a new season approval after 9 months. The first teaser for season 3 came with the introduction of the Joker card. The first season of the production featured some numbered cards and the second season featured the faces behind some cards. However, the Joker card had never been mentioned in the series until today.
When Will Alice in Borderland Season 3 Come Out and What Will It Be About?
Based on the information that the “games” will end with the collection of all the cards in the deck, fans predict that season 3 will pursue the name behind the Joker card.
The series is written and directed by Shinsuke Sato and written by Yoshiki Watabe and Yasuko Kuramitsu. No date has yet been announced for Alice in Borderland season 3. However, it is estimated that the production may meet with the audience in the fall of 2024.
