What is the Meaning of Bob Dylan eye symbol (Falcon or Evil )

Messianic Jews are not that uncommon, but seem to be hugely misunderstood by both Jews and Christians, and totally confound the media. One point that is seldom mentioned is him performing in front of and generally identifying with the Dylan Eye Logo , the eye being the eye of God, the crown being King of king and lord of lords, Jesus and the the diving Dove being the Holy spirit. Performing in front of a huge symbol for the trinity has to have profound significance for what the man believes.

The Eye of Horus is an ancient Egyptian symbol of protection, royal power and good health. Horus is the ancient Egyptian sky god usually depicted as a falcon. His right eye was associated with the sun Ra.

falcon-eye

The eye symbol represents the marking around the eye of the falcon, including the “teardrop” marking sometimes found below the eye.

The teardrop, the dark streak of feathers beneath the falcon’s eye, is called a malar (cheek) stripe. The biological theory for this feature is that, much like athletes putting blacking under their eyes to prevent glare, this also prevents glare from reflecting off their feathers.

The crown is the symbol of King Messiah. Chabad messianism, or Lubavitch messianism, is a spectrum of beliefs within the Hasidic movement of Chabad-Lubavitch regarding their late leader Rabbi Menachem Mendel Schneerson and his status as the Messiah.

If the land of Egypt were to be conquered by a Jewish king under the guidance of a Sanhedrin (סַנְהֶדְרִין) assembly, the prohibition against returning to Egypt would no longer apply. This is because at that point it would start being considered part of the Land of Israel.

here’s a sentence from the wiki definition of the third eye.

…”The third eye is often associated with religious visions, clairvoyance, the ability to observe chakras and auras,[4] precognition, and out-of-body experiences. People who are claimed to have the capacity to utilize their third eyes are sometimes known as seers.”

The Hamsa ( خمسة , חַמְסָה), is a palm-shaped amulet popular throughout the Middle East and North Africa, and often used in jewelry and wall hangings. Depicting the open right hand, an image recognized and used as a sign of protection in many times throughout history, the hamsa is believed to provide defense against the evil eye. The symbol originated in Punic Carthage, modern-day Tunisia, and was associated with the Goddess Tanit. خمسة is an Arabic word that means “five”, but also “the five fingers of the hand”.

“The eye drawing often found on the Hamsa represents the eye that sees everything. Nothing escapes this eye. The eye watches out for the person in possession of the Hamsa and warns about and protects against evil encounters.

Bob Dylan’s logo: eye of Lucifer. 666 symbolism.

“It goes back to the destiny thing. I made a bargain with him (devil)..a long time ago, and I’m holding up my hand. To get where I am now. With the chief commander, on this earth and in an earth we cannot see.”

Bob Dylan’s Evil Eye

The All Seeing Eye

posted Sep 18 2008 by sadi_ranson_polizzotti

Someone asked if I knew the significance of Dylan’s eye logo/banner that drops down in concert and has for sometime now and that is likewise widely branded on a lot of Dylan merchandise at shows and the like.

Like most things Dylan, I’ll leave it to Dylan to address that one in a more direct way. I can only think it over (or over-think) it over, but then, it seems that eyes have been on Dylan’s mind for a good part, if not most, of his career. The word eye or eyes feature in approximately 124 songs, give or take a couple. There are “steel eyes” and twinkling eyes and men with their eyes tied shut and icy wind’s howling in eyes and eyes that are on fire. There are eyes glazed, eyes wiped, heat rising in eyes, watery eyes, eyes that feel that they’re falling off a face, eyes with a long night’s journey. There are the “cold eyes of Judas”, there is the self in the other’s eyes, assassin’s eyes, wide eyes, neon-lit eyes, smoked eye-lids, rolling eyes, teasing eyes, sad-eyed prophets, ware-house eyes, sad-eyes (amen), big bright eyes, serpent’s obsidian eyes, jewel eyes, serpents eyes. There are somebody’s eyes and somebody’s unknowin’ eyes.

  1. Good information, yet the whole sectio’s about the devil remains a false concoction, nowhere is indicated that it would be a Robert Johnson thing, the great commander sure does not refer to the devil in my book, if he would have said the great upsetter it might have, haha.

  2. He did not say he made a deal with the ‘devil’. YOU put that word in his words. The chief commander is not the devil. You should be sued for slander.

  3. Please do not play with symbols, nor try to put down their goodness.
The story of the pact with the devil is a miserable fake. It does’nt deserve any attention. A big mistake to highlight such an idiot thing.
    Francesco Gypsy Flag

  4. ya
    the chief commander is God.
    Not the devil.

Dylan’s songs are more full of biblical imagery than pretty much
    any other songwriter.

Everyone knows you can’t sell your soul to the devil anyway.
everyone goes back to God when he dies….your soul is God’s.
He will decide what to do with it! LOL

  5. I have been listening to Bob Dylan since I was 14 years old, so I know his music fairly well. From his early music onwards, dylan has mentioned names, quotes and stories from the Bible. His love for God shines in much of his music.(By the way, I am a born again Bible believing Christian).
If you look into Dylan’s conversion to Christianity, you will find he was led to the Lord by a Jewish believer. This Jewish man is absolutely positive that Dylan’s conversion was genuine, and remains so to this day.
So why not stop picking on Bob, and continue to enjoy the talent he shares with people who have followed him for a long time.

    • Dylan I’ve been listing to Dylan for over 50 years still do.hes an old rat bastard he never once said he was a Christian . He sings to the divil in his song disguised. ( The ragman draws circles up and down the street when I ask him why I no that he don’t talk) stuck inside a mobile with the Memphis house again. Dylan calls the divil the ragman his songs have many bidding meanings . He’s a wolf in sheep’s clothing a false phrohet trying to lead us all to help with him. Fuck you Bob I AINT GOING TO HELL FOR NO ONE. PS JONNY CASH IS JUST AS BAD ROT IN HELL JONNY.

  6. “he never once said he was a Christian . He sings to the divil in his song disguised.”

i think you’ve been on too much weed my friend:

“I was blinded by the devil
    Born already ruined
    Stone-cold dead
As I stepped out of the womb
By His grace I have been touched
By His word I have been healed
By His hand I have been delivered
By His spirit I Have been sealed.

    I’ve been saved
By the blood of the lamb
    Saved
By the blood of the lamb
    Saved
    Saved
    And I’m so glad
    Yes, I’m so glad
    I’m so glad
    So glad
I want to thank you, Lord
I just want to thank You Lord
    Thank You Lord”

You’d have to be mentally retarded to think the above lyric represents a high view of the devil and a low view of the Saviour or is Dylan singing to the devil “in disguise”.

If we were to use evrybody’s preconversion statements as you do with Dylans references to “the ragman” then every Christian would be a “wolf in sheeps clothing”. You need to get off the drugs!

    • I never once said he was a Christian? How about the new lyrics to Change My Way Of Thinking?…” Jesus is coming, coming back to gather His jewels”

  7. Crazy people out there it seems. If a brilliant artist does not want to be drawn into religion, please do not try and see the devil behind every song or poem. There is so much life lessons and good messages in his songs, if you are a positive person without a `Devil complex`,that you should investigate medical help regarding depression and resultant negativity to everything in life.
Go away and listen to gospel music.
    Piet Venter. South Africa

  8. Those of you who has studied the Bible understand the world and all worldly things are under the authoroity of Satan the prince of this world. The distinction is made between the spiritual and the worldly and the world are things which will pass away. Bob Dylan made his bargain with the commander of this World and the Shadow Kingdom.

  9. It is also known as the ‘Wadjet’ eye. Wadjet in Egyptian mythology was the nurse of Ra and was closely associated in ancient Egyptian religion with the Eye of Ra, a powerful protective deity.
The hieroglyph for her eye is similar to the Dylan one.
Sometimes two are shown in the sky of ancient Egyptian religious images.
The temple of Wadjet also contained a sanctuary of Horus, the child of the sun deity who would be interpreted to represent the pharaoh.
Much later, Wadjet became associated with Isis as well as with many other deities.

  10. So cool seeing this in an article 15 years after I wrote it.
I am the “person” who wrote that.
I still believe my explanation is the best and closest to character and truth
