Deadly Class , I Watched the First Episode, Here Is My Review

I am writing the first article of this year by wishing a happy 2019 to everyone. Deadly Class comic book which as published in 2014 is adapted to Syfy screen with the same name. The first episode of the TV show is released on 20 December. The first season of the TV show in action, thriller, crime and drama genre will consist of 10 episodes. I reviewed the first episode of Deadly Class which attracts attention with its extraordinary storyline with the knowledge I gathered about the TV show.

While Deadly Class stars some important names with an extensive cast, some of the actors are the young names with a bright future in their career. If I talked about the main cast whom I liked the performances and the interesting characters they play, these are Master Lin (Benedict Wong) the school director with a mysterious and sad past who desperately waits for approval even though he is scared of the students; Marcus Lopez Arguello (Benjamin Wadsworth), the new member of the school and the victim of his unfortunate past; dangerous and mysterious Saya Kukori (Lana Condor) the leader of Yakuza in the school; Maria (Maria Gabriela de Faria) forceful girlfriend of the Mexican cartel leader who seems to be in love with Marcus; Willie (Luke Tennie) who is the leader of a Los Angeles gang with a harsh and careless looking character even though he is the opposite and skater thug Billy (Liam James) who is the son of a corrupt police officer.

The screenplay writers of Deadly Class are Russo brothers (Anthony-Joseph Russo) who are known from various movies and TV showsUniversal Cable Productions and Sony Pictures Television are the co-producers of the Deadly Class and the producers include the comic book creators Rick Remender, Russo brothers, Mike Larocca (Spy), Adam Targum (Banshee) and Lee Toland Krieger (The Age of Adaline). At the same time, Krieger is the director of the TV show.

What Is the Plot?

“There are wannabes that come from all around the world. It doesn’t matter where they come from. All the children are the same. They are all scumbag. What is the only difference here? The daggers stabbed on your back are real.”

Marcus lives a life which most would call survival as a fugitive. The police are looking for him because of what he experienced in the past. When he was about to get caught one night, he saves himself with the help of some people. Although he is saved, he ends up being involved in a different plot. Marcus receives an offer that will change his life from the group leader of those who has saved him from the police. This individual called Master Lin means Marcus’ past, says people like him are special and asks him to join them. Marcus does not accept this offer but his life in the mire begins to sink deeper. Such that he is at the edge of committing suicide by thinking of the moment he, unfortunately, lost his mother and father. But with the help of Saya, he changes his mind to end his life and accepts to be in Lin’s school. This school called King’s Dominion Atelier of the Deadly Arts is a special academy that the evilest criminal families around the world send their next generations. There is an important detail that the school director Lin didn’t know when he measured the potential in Marcus. Marcus’ past is a bit different than what everyone has heard of.

What I Hoped, What I Found?

Actually, I was a bit skeptical about Deadly Class TV show because the genre was action. Because even though I am a good foreign TV show audience, the good examples in this genre are limited. But despite my worries about this, the topic of the TV show was intriguing. Moreover, when I learned that the TV show had a high score on IMBD and was adapted from a comic book, my expectations from the TV show increased further. Therefore, there was no need for much thinking to watch the first episode.

First, I must say that I was satisfied with this not too excessive and weird-looking action. The suspense and drama are well-balanced around the action. I believe that few action scenes and music that perfectly match these scenes will increase the rushing adrenaline in the audience’s blood. I also must say that the plot is garnished with such amazing details that I admired the fact that the fluidity and curiosity in the TV show never left me for a second. It might be a bit early to talk about the performances but I can say I didn’t see any weird performance that will disturb the plot. I think some of the characters will be loved from the first episode and they will have their own fanbase.

What Do They Say on Social Media About This TV Show?

There are only a few comments about Deadly Class and especially about the first episode. I didn’t see any negative comments among them. But some like the comic book that inspired this TV show and some do not like the narrative. I don’t know the comic book but I do not agree with that for the TV show. As I said before, I think the narration of the TV show is one of the strongest aspects. Other than that, I saw some comments that talk about the importance of the project because Russo brothers were involved.

Who Should Watch It?

You must watch Deadly Class if you are interested in an action TV show that sometimes makes you smile in sadness and sometimes make you feel tense with excitement. I don’t know how correct it is to give an example from the market with some high-quality or successful action but I can say I got the vibes of Heroes and Into the Badlands.
