IS FIREFLY LANE ADAPTED FROM A REAL STORY?
The TV show is inspired by Kristin Hannah’s 2009 novel with the same name. The novel has “Flashback” scenes between the eighth grade, high school, university and adult years of Kate and Tully. Hannah the author of “Best-Sellers” such as “The Nightingale” and “Winter Garden” mostly refers to her life in her novels. In an interview in 2019 in University of Washington Magazine, Hannah told that “Firefly Lane” was one of the most personal and autobiographic works among her stories.
Hannah who studies at the University of Washington Department of Communication expressed that she was inspired by her life in Seattle. Hannah inspired by the songs she listened to when she was young, her clothes and the venues she went to in Seattle and we can see the marks of the “Firefly Lane” novel in the TV show. Hannah said, “Most of the things I write are inspired from where I live… If you know a place and if you lived there, you can bring different perspectives to the table”. After the success of her “Firefly Lane” novel, she wrote “Fly Away” from Kate’s 16-year-old Marah’s perspective.
