SEPTEMBER 14, 1968 – The first episode of the comic strip “The Archies” was aired on US TV. The recording group had contributions from Ron Dante, Andy Kim, Jeff Barry and others. Rock mogul, Don Kirshner (who also created “The Monkees” and “Rock Concert”) was put in charge of the studio group. The following year The Archies started an eight-week run at #1 on the UK singles chart with “Sugar Sugar” to become the longest running One Hit Wonder in the UK.
