Lakes have another impact and importance for travelers who do not associate being in nature with sea, sand, sun holiday. Lake tourism isn’t that advanced in our country but there are lots of famous lakes around the world. It is really hard to create a list but we would like to share 15 lakes with amazing nature and view.
Constance Lake – Germany/Austria/Switzerland
This 63km lake is amazing on September. Nature lovers can ride bike around the lake, stop by the gardens to taste the grapes, apples and pears during fall and tip the garden owners by leaving money in the bucket.
Inle Lake – Myanmar

Bled Lake – Slovenia
Bled Lake is one of the most photogenic points in Slovenia. The view is more impressive if you experience a foggy day. You cannot miss Bled when you make a beautiful lakes list.
Buttermere Lake – UK
This lake in the Lake Region in the UK has the best view for nature lovers. It takes 1 day to visit this lake surrounded with castles, towers and old towns. The largest waterfall in the region is near Scale Force.
Lake Geneva – Switzerland
Mary Shelley spend time around Lake Geneva as she created her famous work Frankenstein (when she was 18 years old in 1816). Many other famous people (Vladimir Lenin, David Bowie, Freddie Mercury) after Shelley came to this amazing lake to refresh.
Malavi Lake – Malavi
This giant lake with 587km length and 86km width promises and amazing lake holiday with crystal clear water and clean coastline.
Lake Michigan – US
This lake is the 3rd largest lake among the top 5 lakes in North America. There are beaches and ski facilities around this lake which is visited throughout the year!
Lake Como – Italy
Como is the most famous and touristic lake in Europe and the lake is still popular despite high prices in the touristic facilities and villages. Europe’s largest lake island Monte Isola is here. The nature and the water are under protection and it is the best option for European lake lovers who do not want to travel far.
Lock Awe Lake – Scotland
Loch Awe which is the largest and dazzling lakes in Scotland has a few old mansions including a 15th century Kilchurn castle. You need to stop by to Lochawe and Dalmally towns.
Moraine Lake – Canada
Although this lake isn’t as famous as its northern neighbor Lake Louise, Moraine Lake is preferred by those who want calmness and seclusion. This lake on the Rocky Mountain range provides an ideal natural environment for canoes, camping and skiing.
Tasman – New Zealand
Tasman Lake located inside Aoraki/Mount Cook Natural Part is between the Cook Mountain and Tasman Glacier which is the highest mountain in Austria and New Zealand. The beauties during freezing and melting seasons are popular among boat tours.
Titicaca Lake – Peru/Bolivia
Titicaca is known as the highest altitude suitable for a water vessel and it is 3821 meters high from the sea level. There are lots of hotels and accommodation places near this mountain lake located at the Peruvian and Bolivian border. At the same time, it is the largest lake in South America.
Wolfgangsee Lake – Austria
This is the most amazing among the three lakes in the region (other two – Attersee and Hallstatter are important as well). There are St. Wolfgang with an altar from the 15th century and St. Gilgen, the town of Amadeus Mozart’s mother.
