Orlando Bloom is considering the idea of starring in the new “Lord of the Rings” movie

Lord of the Rings 2025

Orlando Bloom may play the role of Legolas in the new movie “The Hunt for Gollum“, the next installment in the “Lord of the Rings” series.

Orlando Bloom may return to Middle Earth after 10 years. The actor, who played Legolas in The Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit trilogies, is in talks for Andy Serkis’ The Hunt for Gollum.

J.R.R. Tolkien’s Lord of the Rings books continue to inspire the world of movies, TV and games. Viewers are currently watching season 2 of Prime Video’s The Rings of Power. However, the year 2024 will say goodbye with The War of the Rohirrim in anime format.

Another Lord of the Rings project in the near future will be The Hunt for Gollum from New Line Cinema, the studio behind the main series. Andy Serkis will direct and star as Gollum, and the film will feature many familiar characters from the LotR universe.

Ian McKellen, who played Gandalf, and Viggo Mortensen, who played Aragorn, were among the names that left the door open for a possible return to the series. Now they are joined by Orlando Bloom, who is remembered for his role as Legolas.

Orlando Bloom Reveals About The Hunt for Gollum, The New Lord of the Rings Movie

Speaking about the new live-action Lord of the Rings movie with Peter Jackson at the helm, Bloom revealed that he has been contacted for the role.

Bloom shared that he talked to Andy Serkis about the project and found out what they had in mind.

“I think you can do anything with artificial intelligence these days. But if Pete [Peter Jackson] says to me, ‘Jump!’ I ask him, ‘How high?’ My whole career started because of him.”

The Hunt for Gollum, which will usher in a new era in Middle-earth, is set for 2026. Fran Walsh and Philippa Boyens, the screenwriters of the main series, are also involved as producers. A number of other Lord of the Rings films will be in development alongside the production.

“I don’t really know what they’re planning. I talked to Andy [Serkis] and he told me what he was planning to do. I said, ‘How is this going to happen?’ And he said, ‘Artificial intelligence,’ and I said, ‘Okay.’ It was a pretty magical time in my life, and it was one of those things that had no flaws.”
