In Paris, France, the members of The Beach Boys had their own audience with guru Maharishi Mahesh Yogi. Mike Love became so enamored with the Indian Transcendental Meditation (TM) teacher that he decided to help spread his philosophies by having him appear during the second half of the Beach Boys 1968 concerts which featured the guru lecturing the audience on “spiritual regeneration.” The reaction was so negative after their first show together, more than half of the remaining tour dates were canceled.
