Alien

The time period of the new “Alien” series has been revealed. Noah Hawley’s production will air on FX and Hulu platforms.

The timeline for the new Alien series and the latest cast members have been finalized. Ridley Scott’s Alien universe continues to expand.

While fans have their eyes on Romulus, the new Alien movie directed by Fede Álvarez, new details continue to emerge about the TV series that shares the same universe.

Master director Ridley Scott joins the series as a producer, while Noah Hawley, known for Fargo and Legion, is at the helm of the project.

Now some critical details about the time period of the series have been revealed. The first Alien movie from 1979 is set in the year 2122. Aliens takes place 57 years after that, and Alien 3 takes place just after the second one. In the adventures that follow, the dates have wider ranges. Resurrection fast-forwards the adventure 202 years. Prometheus starts in prehistory. Covenant takes place in 2104. It is known that Romulus, the final installment of the series, is set in 2142, between the first two films. All this chronology is expressed by excluding the Alien vs Predator movies and other spin-offs.

New Alien Series Timeline Announced

Deadline reports that the new series will take place about 30 years before the events of the first Alien. “It’s towards the end of the century that we’re in right now… 70-odd years from now,” FX network executive John Landgraf told THR.

This description reveals that the new series will be set in the year 2090. However, it is not yet clear whether the series will be a precursor to any of the controversial events of Prometheus.

The series will focus on the rise of the Weyland-Yutani Corporation. It’s a start-up at the time, and not yet the heartless corporation it would later become. Weyland-Yutani already has its fingers in many pies, but is particularly excited about pioneering android technology. The series is based on the themes that Ridley Scott explored in Prometheus and Alien: Covenant to further explore the relationship between humanity and androids. Other than that, Hawley is keeping the show’s plot under wraps for now.

Sydney Chandler, who starred in Apple TV+’s Sugar in Alien, plays Wendy, a “meta-human” described as “a character with the body of an adult, but the brain and consciousness of a child.” Wendy will guide Kirsch, played by Timothy Olyphant (Justified).
