SEPTEMBER 15, 2019 – Singer/songwriter/guitarist/producer RIC OCASEK (b. March 23, 1944 in Baltimore, Maryland as Richard Theodore Otcasek) of rock band The Cars, died at his Gramercy Park apartment at 140 East 19th Street in Manhattan, New York City at age 75. He suffered from both hypertension and coronary artery disease with emphysema as a complication. Police said they received a call around 4 pm for an unconscious male at a townhouse on East 19th Street. He was pronounced dead at the scene. Law enforcement sources confirmed the deceased as Ocasek.
