Turkish Airlines orders 355 aircraft with options from Airbus

In a statement released by Turkish Airlines, it was stated that the order amounted to 355 units with purchase options.

European aircraft manufacturer Airbus announced that Turkish Airlines has ordered 220 aircraft, including 150 large-capacity single-aisle A321s and 70 long-range A350s. THY, on the other hand, announced that this number is 355 with options.

No amount has been disclosed for the giant order, but the total value of the contract is $42.7 billion, according to the list price, which has not been updated since 2018 and has never been applied.

Airbus said that with the latest order, THY’s order list has increased to 504 aircraft, 212 of which have already been delivered.

THY General Manager Bilal Ekşi said, “Turkey is growing, THY is flying high. As explained in the PDP material event disclosure, it has been decided to purchase 355 aircraft from Airbus.”

The following statements were used in the notification made to KAP:

“In line with the growth targets set out in the Strategic Plan covering the years 2023-2033, our Incorporation continues to negotiate with aircraft and engine manufacturers. In this context, our Board of Directors;

  • 60 A350-900 aircraft on firm order and 20 A350-900 aircraft with purchase rights (including 10 A350-900 aircraft mentioned in our Material Event Disclosure dated 01.09.2023),
  • 15 firm orders for A350-1000 aircraft,
  • 5 A350F freighters on firm order and 5 A350F freighters with purchase rights; and
  • 355 aircraft from Airbus, including 150 firm orders and 100 A321 NEO aircraft with purchase rights, and to procure engine maintenance services and spare engines for A350 aircraft from Rolls-Royce.”
