Spanish La Liga team Real Madrid’s star player Vinicius Jr. has reportedly rejected a new contract offer.
According to the report in Athletic, Real Madrid offered the Brazilian star a new contract with a raise but received a negative response.
The star footballer, who was on the agenda of Saudi Arabian teams during the last summer transfer window and at half-time, is reportedly expecting a better increase in his salary.
Vinicius Jr.’s current salary is 15 million euros a year after taxes, the same amount as Kylian Mbappe, who Real Madrid signed in the summer transfer window.
However, it was pointed out that Mbappe received a signing bonus as he joined the team without any transfer fee. In the news, it was stated that the negotiations will continue in the upcoming period.
After last season’s Champions League title, Vinicius Jr. said that he wants to stay at Real Madrid until the end of his career.
‘I’m only 24 years old, I want to stay here forever and contribute as much as I can to the team that has given me everything since I arrived here,’ Vinicius Jr. said.
The Brazilian star has scored 101 goals and provided 83 assists in 293 appearances for Real Madrid. Vinicius Jr won LaLiga (3), Champions League (2) and FIFA Club World Cup (2) titles in this period.
