NOVEMBER 17, 1994 – After two days of rehearsals, Bob Dylan spent the first of two days taping an episode of “MTV Unplugged” in New York City at Sony Studios for a show to be broadcast in December. The singer/songwriter had originally wanted to do a set of traditional folk songs, but at MTV’s request, he instead performed mostly classics from his early albums.
The resulting album “Bob Dylan – MTV Unplugged” was released in 1995 by Columbia Records (reissued in 2007 by Sony), giving Dylan his best sales in years, reaching #23 on the US Billboard album chart and going gold, while reaching # 10 in the UK.
