The Emerald Green Stone – Hattuša – Turkey

Green stone found in the Great Temple (3300 years old) dedicated to the Storm God Teshup and Arinna’s Sun Goddess, the largest religious building in the Hattuša Lower City. The emerald green stone found in this temple is known as the ‘wishing stone’. It stands inside the temple, away from the sanctuary, and it is unclear how it got there. As it is written on the Internet, it was neither brought from Egypt nor is it a meteorite from outer space. It must be something related to belief, but what role it plays is still unknown. Hittite sources mention sacred stones in many places, but do not mention that their color is green.
