Holy City of Gerga

It was founded at the foot of the Madran Mountains, at a point overlooking the Marsyas (Çine) Stream. It is possible to see dozens of Gerga, Gergakome inscriptions almost everywhere in the city. Especially Gergas is written right on the forehead of the surviving naiskos/small temple. Perfectly preserved with its roof, it is probably a temple. The roof is made of stone beams and flat stones imitating wood. It impresses with its workmanship and stone blocks. On my last visit, the area was cleaned and small touches were made to make the pieces more visible. Even this touch has changed a lot in the city. It is not difficult actually. Many cities of Caria are in bad condition. Aydin, Cine – Turkey
